Kaiser Permanente Announces Northern California Region President
Kaiser Permanente CEO and Chair George Halvorson yesterday named Mary Ann Thode as president of the HMO's Northern California region, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Thode had been serving as acting president of the region. Richard Cordova, acting president of the Southern California region, also was officially appointed to fill that position (Colliver, San Francisco Chronicle, 8/16). Halvorson in June announced restructuring plans that eliminated Kaiser's California division and "return[ed] to a structure of having a top manager in Southern California and one in the north" (California Healthline, 6/24). Halvorson said Thode, who began working with Kaiser as a nurse, "brings a wealth of health care industry experience and unique, in-depth knowledge of Kaiser Permanente to her new role." Thode also has served as a Kaiser senior vice president and manager for an area that included San Francisco, South San Francisco, San Rafael and Santa Rosa (San Francisco Chronicle, 8/16).
