Kaiser Recognized as Having Diverse Work Force
Kaiser Permanente on Wednesday announced that it has been rated 27th overall on DiversityInc's 2007 Top 50 Companies For Diversity list, the San Francisco Business Times reports. The recognition marks the second time that Kaiser has made the list, according to officials.
Officials at DiversityInc, a N.J.-based monthly business magazine and Web site, said the list is based on a survey that businesses with more than 1,000 employees can request to complete. More than 300 employers competed for the award.
Kaiser officials say the award recognizes factors such as:
- Commitment by senior leadership;
- Human capital;
- Corporate communications; and
- Supplier diversity.
Kaiser officials attributed the award to the HMO's diverse work force of 77% women and 57% ethnic minorities (Rauber, San Francisco Business Times, 4/4).
Other health care companies making the list include:
- Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida;
- Novartis Pharmaceuticals;
- Johnson & Johnson;
- Merck;
- Abbott; and
- Health Care Service (DiversityInc, accessed 4/5).
