Kaiser Researchers Find New Colonoscopy Focus Could Reduce Rate of Colon Cancer
Health care providers could reduce the rate of colon cancer by focusing on a particular type of polyp -- known as an adenoma -- during colonoscopies, according to a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association. The study, which was conducted by researchers at Kaiser Permanente, found an 11% decrease in colorectal cancer rates and a 13% decrease in mortality for each 5% increase in adenoma detection and removal.
