KQED’s ‘Health Dialogues’ Program Focuses on Community Health Efforts

KQED's "Health Dialogues," a live monthly call-in program funded by the California Endowment to examine health care issues in California, will focus tonight on community efforts to "navigate the state's deteriorating health care structure." The program will analyze several health programs, including community-sponsored education campaigns for chronic illnesses, and will discuss resources available to communities hoping to start public health initiatives. Guest on tonight's show include San Francisco Department of Public Health Director Dr. Mitchell Katz; Belma Gonzalez, program coordinator for Women's Choices, a statewide, multi-ethnic project to train community residents to identify unmet health care needs in their areas; Lori Juszak, executive director of Grassroots for Kids, a not-for-profit community organization seeking to improve the health of children in Shingletown, a small town in the mountains of Shasta County; and Dr. Michael Cousineau, associate professor of family medicine at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine.
