Kucinich Asks Health Insurers To Testify at Hearing in September
On Wednesday, Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio), chair of the House Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on Domestic Policy, asked Aetna, CIGNA, Hemingway Health Care, Humana, UnitedHealth, WellPoint and other health insurers to testify about industry practices at an upcoming hearing, Roll Call reports (Newmyer, Roll Call, 8/26).
In a letter, Kucinich asked the companies' CEOs to testify at a Sept. 17 hearing on "the nature, cost/benefit, and impact of administrative measures and protocols used by the health insurance industry to determine coverage" (Dixon/Richwine, Reuters, 8/26).
Kucinich also asked the executives to prepare testimony to describe their companies' "awareness of the response by doctors to these activities" (Roll Call, 8/26).
