L.A. County Medical Association Opposing Senate Health Care Bill
In a break from the American Medical Association, the Los Angeles County Medical Association has announced that it opposes the Senate's health care reform plan (HR 3590), the Torrance Daily Breeze reports.
AMA previously endorsed the legislation.
However, a special commission within the Los Angeles County branch said it does not support the Senate bill because it believes the legislation would:
- Fail to improve the accessibility and affordability of quality health care;
- Inadequately protect patient privacy and the right to privately contract with physicians; and
- Interfere with physician-patient relationships (Evans, Torrance Daily Breeze, 12/28/09).
