L.A. County Officials Issue Alert for Ocular Syphilis
On Thursday, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health issued an advisory for primary and eye-care providers to look out for symptoms of ocular syphilis -- a sexually transmitted infection that can cause blindness -- after two potential cases were reported in the area. Officials also have confirmed 14 cases of the illness in San Francisco and Washington.
