LINCARE: Confirms It Has Received Federal Subpoenas
Clearwater, FL-based Lincare Holdings Inc. yesterday confirmed it "has received subpoenas from federal prosecutors in California seeking documents relating to its services and marketing practices," the St. Petersburg Times reports. Lincare "provides home oxygen to more than 150,000 patients nationwide." The federal subpoenas, which were issued last month, ask Lincare to provide documents from "five ... locations in California and Oregon," including information "on marketing and compliance procedures ... from 1995 to present." A company official said Lincare "delayed making the subpoenas public while it tried to get further information from the Justice Department about the basis for the government investigation." The St. Petersburg Times reports that Lincare's chief competitor, Apria Healthcare Group Inc., received subpoenas from federal prosecutors last week "seeking information on its billing practices" (Hundley, 7/14).
