Medi-Cal
AB 3019 by Assembly member Lynn Daucher (R-Brea) was amended on April 26 to require the Health and Human Services Agency, rather than the Department of Health Services, to develop and test community options and assessment protocol to reduce multiple assessments for home- and community-based services. The bill would take effect immediately if approved. The legislation was re-referred to the Assembly Appropriations Committee (StateNet, Subscription required).
SB 1371 by Sen. Abel Maldonado (R-San Luis Obispo) was amended on April 26 to extend the deadline for developing a pilot program to use smart cards for Medi-Cal beneficiaries from June 1, 2007 to Jan. 1, 2008. The cards would contain information such as a beneficiary's medical history and Medi-Cal eligibility. The bill was re-referred to the Senate Appropriations Committee (StateNet, Subscription required).
