MEDPARTNERS: Receives Approval of Interim Deal
The State Superior Court has approved an interim deal between MedPartners Inc. and the California Department of Corporations, under which the state will return the company's California operations back over to MedPartners. The state took over the network "after a financial audit raised fears that the large health plan was on the verge of collapse." Under the deal, MedPartners' operations will be overseen by a special monitor appointed by the state. The company will also begin to repay doctors whom it owes money, the Wall Street Journal reports (5/12).
