Molina Healthcare Offers Web Site in Six Languages
Molina Healthcare of California has made its Web site available in the six languages most commonly spoken by Medi-Cal beneficiaries in its service area, in an effort to provide its large minority membership with easier access to information about health care services. Molina Healthcare currently is the only health plan in the state to provide online information in all of the languages that the Department of Health Services has designated "threshold languages" for the counties where it holds Medi-Cal contracts. In addition to English, Molina offers versions of its Web site in Spanish, Vietnamese, traditional Chinese, Hmong and Russian. Molina focuses on serving people who have encountered long-standing barriers to care, including language, literacy and geography. The health plan provides services to residents in the northern and southern parts of the state through Medi-Cal and Healthy Families. Eighty percent of its members belong to minority groups (Molina Healthcare release, 3/5).This is part of the California Healthline Daily Edition, a summary of health policy coverage from major news organizations.
