National County Group Holds Final Hearing on Health Care Reform
At a hearing in Sacramento Thursday, the National Association of Counties' Large Urban County Caucus sought public feedback on what the group should lobby for in a national health care reform package, the Sacramento Bee reports.
The caucus was holding its annual meeting in Sacramento this week, and the hearing Thursday was the last of three sessions held nationwide.
The group is supporting calls for:
- Universal health coverage;
- Greater emphasis on preventive care; and
- Integration of data systems.
Jim Philipps, a spokesperson for the association, said it would complete work on its recommendations in the next few weeks and then begin holding congressional briefings (Lewis, Sacramento Bee, 4/17).
