NCQA: Deal with Medscape Puts Report Cards Online
The National Committee for Quality Assurance and MedicaLogic/Medscape, Inc. announced last week that they have aligned to improve consumers' and health care professionals' access to NCQA's Health Plan Report Card. As of Oct. 1, the Health Plan Report Card will be available online at the cbs.healthwatch.com and medscape.com sites, and highlighted as a "feature" within Medscape's 40 health channels. In addition, MedicaLogic/Medscape will work with CBS Corp., America Online and Yahoo! to promote the NCQA report card during health plans' open enrollment periods between October and December this year, and April 2001 through June 2001. The Health Plan Report Card provides consumers with comparative quality information on various health plans to allow them more to make informed decisions when choosing health services for themselves and their families. NCQA and MedicaLogic/Medscape have also combined efforts to jointly develop and promote Web-based consumer surveys (NCQA release, 8/30).
