NCQA to Offer ‘Targeted’ Health Plan Report Card Online
The National Committee for Quality Assurance has begun offering its Health Plan Report Card via the Internet to provide employers and employees with "targeted, detailed information on available health care options." The report, which is updated monthly, will include any information about the "key areas" of "access and service, getting better, qualified providers, staying healthy [and] living with illness." The online issue of the report card will allow employers to offer "customized versions" to employees with specific health plan "benefits and rate information," as well as any applicable "out-of-pocket costs." Online access will be available through NCQA's Web site, www.ncqa.org, as well as CBSHealthWatch and Medscape.com. In addition, employers will have the ability to post the "customized Report Card" on their own intranet sites. NCQA will offer the report card for one year, with cost contingent on the number of employees and the "degree of customization required" (NCQA release, 11/30).
