NEJM Web Site, Harrison’s Online Announce Collaboration
The New England Journal of Medicine and publisher McGraw-Hill Professional yesterday announced a collaboration between the online editions of NEJM and the textbook Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine. Under the agreement, Harrison's Online users will have "instant access" to the full text of current and archived editions of NEJM and collected references categorized by subject. NEJM subscribers will be able to link directly to all materials in the 15th edition of Harrison's, as well as to "the latest clinical trial data, breakthroughs in therapy and clinical research, discussion forums, MEDLINE abstracts, editorials and links to hundreds of related Web sites." Tables of contents and "specific content" will be cross-referenced from one site to the other. Dr. Jeffery Drazen, editor-in-chief of NEJM, said, "Our collaboration will help everyone from the medical student who needs to learn for the first time to the well established physician who needs current background information in an area outside their specialty" (McGraw-Hill release, 12/5).
