NEVADA: Senate Candidate Ad Rips Pharmaceutical Industry
One week after he launched an ad accusing the health insurance industry of denying treatment to one of his children, Nevada senatorial hopeful Ed Bernstein (D) targets the pharmaceutical company in a new ad. Titled "Rip Off," the ad claims that drugmakers are wielding power in Congress by contributing heavily to candidates' campaigns. Accompanied by his father, Bernstein says, "Washington is in the pocket of the pharmaceutical industry. I won't take their money and I'll fight the special interests to lower prescription prices." At the end of the ad, Bernstein's dad says: "You tell 'em son." The ad aired Monday in Nevada and will run throughout the week (National Journal Group, 6/15).
