NPR’s ‘Morning Edition’ Reports on Legislation To Provide Health Coverage for Uninsured Residents
NPR's "Morning Edition" yesterday reported on several "sweeping plans" that state lawmakers will consider this legislative session to extend health coverage to the uninsured. Although California faces a budget deficit, NPR reports that some state lawmakers consider the legislation the "only way to avoid another kind of catastrophe," as seven million uninsured residents "put pressure" on the state's health care system. The segment includes comments from Sen. John Burton (D-San Francisco); Paul Ginsburg, president of the Center for Studying Health System Change; Sen. Sheila Kuehl (D-Santa Monica); Assembly member Keith Richman (R-Northridge); and Allan Zaremberg, president of the California Chamber of Commerce (Jaffe, "Morning Edition," NPR, 3/31). The full segment is available online in RealPlayer.
