Nuñez: Lawmakers Must Work To Expand Health Care
California lawmakers "must redouble" their "efforts to provide affordable health care coverage to more than one million California children who are currently uninsured," Assembly Speaker Fabian Nuñez (D-Los Angeles) writes in a San Francisco Chronicle opinion piece.
According to Nuñez, Democrats have been working to "convince the governor to sign" AB 772, by Assembly member Wilma Chan (D-Oakland), which would create the California Healthy Kids program and expand access to health coverage for uninsured children in the state.
In addition AB 1199, by Assembly member Dario Frommer (D-Glendale), would establish the California Healthy Kids Fund "as a repository for public and private contributions that would supplement existing state and federal children's health care funds," Nuñez writes (Nuñez, San Francisco Chronicle, 8/7).
