Nurses Union Campaigns for Public Financing Measure
The California Nurses Association on Wednesday launched a new statewide campaign to support Proposition 89, the Oakland Tribune reports. The measure would create a publicly financed campaign system and cap some donations to election campaigns.
Six buses, painted with "Yes on 89" logos, will travel throughout the state until the Nov. 7 election to visit more than 100 hospitals and other public venues. CNA is labeling the buses "mobile phone banks" because nurses at the hospitals and other citizens will be asked to come into the bus and call voters.
CNA also on Wednesday launched a new radio advertisement that includes excerpts of the "About Time for 89" song, written by a CNA staffer (Richman, Oakland Tribune, 10/26).
