Obama Taps Varmus To Lead National Cancer Institute
On Monday, President Obama selected former NIH Director Harold Varmus to lead NIH's National Cancer Institute. Varmus received a Nobel Prize in 1989 for studies on the genetic basis of cancer and served as director of NIH from 1993 to 1999. He currently is president of the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.
