Oklahoma Moves To Permit Reimportation
The Oklahoma House on Thursday voted 70-18 to pass a bill (HB 2844) that would allow state residents to purchase prescription drugs from Canadian pharmacies, the Oklahoman reports. Under the legislation, sponsored by state Rep. Kris Steele (R), the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy would establish a Web site to help facilitate such purchases. The bill, which moves to the state Senate for consideration, would only become law in the event FDA allows the practice (Mock, Oklahoman, 3/17).
The Oklahoma Senate has approved a separate bill (SB 1434) that would allow state residents and pharmacists to purchase prescription drugs from Canada and other industrialized nations (Associated Press, 3/17).
