Orange County Hospitals Receive Cash Rewards for Meeting Quality Measures
CalOPTIMA, which operates Orange County's Medi-Cal program, on Wednesday announced that its nine network hospitals received a total of $1.1 million in cash awards for their participation in the agency's quality-improvement program, the Orange County Register reports.
Under the program, hospitals are awarded points that are converted to monetary awards if the facilities meet or exceed national and state hospital measures approved by the Hospital Association of Southern California. The measures include how hospitals treat heart attacks, congestive heart failure and pneumonia.
CalOPTIMA awards ranged from $33,000 to $154,000. Eight of the nine CalOPTIMA hospitals scored above the national average (Wolfson, Orange County Register, 6/2).
