PacifiCare Licenses Rx-Connect Handheld Device to Five Southern California Medical Groups
PacifiCare Health Systems Inc. has announced that it will license its handheld, wireless electronic prescription technology, Rx-Connect, to five medical groups in Southern California. The system attempts to curb medical errors by reducing physician use of handwritten prescriptions and allowing doctors to verify health plan coverage. The groups who will use the technology are Orange County's Gateway Medical Group, Fountain Valley-based Edinger Medical Group, Memorial Family Medicine of Long Beach, Graybill Medical Group of Escondido and PrimeCare in Ontario. About 2,400 doctors in seven other states use Rx-Connect (PacifiCare release, 4/11).
