PBGH to Provide Managed Care Plan Report Cards for DMHC
The Department of Managed Health Care and the independent health care purchasing coalition Pacific Business Group on Health have teamed up to create the first state-sponsored "HMO report card." The state has contracted with PBGH to design a Web site and printed report cards providing a variety of information on health plans. The Web site will include customer experience surveys, enrollee grievance information collected by the department, "performance measures" such as immunizations and mammography screenings, "outcomes measures" such as the percentage of diabetics receiving retinal eye exams, and "utilization measures" such as the number of hysterectomies per thousand health plan members. Printed report cards in English and Spanish will be available for individuals without Internet access or those who "prefer information via paper" (PBGH release, 3/29).
