Pharmaceutical Supplier AmerisourceBergen To Acquire Software Vendor Bridge Medical
The pharmaceutical supply company AmerisourceBergen will acquire the privately held Solana Beach-based bar-coding software vendor Bridge Medical in a stock transaction worth approximately $27 million, the companies announced yesterday. AmerisourceBergen expects to complete the acquisition of Bridge by the end of the year. The agreement allows AmerisourceBergen to offer Bridge's bar coding products to its pharmaceutical clients; Bridge will use AmerisourceBergen's marketing platform and other resources to expand its software business, according to Bridge President and CEO John Grotting. The deal also includes up to $55 million in incentive payments based on Bridge's earnings over the next two years (Bridge Medical release, 11/5).
