Planned Parenthood Pushes Boost in Medi-Cal Payments
Supporters of Planned Parenthood are lobbying state lawmakers to increase reimbursement rates for services provided to Medi-Cal beneficiaries, who make up a large portion of the organization's patient base, Capital Public Radio's "KXJZ News" reports. Medi-Cal is California's Medicaid program.
Planned Parenthood and its clinics provide many primary care services, including cancer screenings, to low-income patients and Medi-Cal beneficiaries.
Assembly member Roger Niello (R-Sacramento), vice chair of the Assembly budget committee, said increasing reimbursements would be difficult this year because revenues have fallen flat after several years of increases (O'Mara, "KXJZ News," Capital Public Radio, 5/7).
