Planned San Diego Stem Cell Center Faces Funding Hurdles
Given the economy and state's budget impasse, San Diego's stem cell consortium has been unable to secure the loans necessary to build a planned $114 million stem cell research facility in Torrey Pines. The project originally was expected to be completed by December 2010. Still, officials involved with the research center say they are optimistic that the project will move forward.
