Poizner Releases Budget Plan That Would Reduce Spending on Medi-Cal
On Monday, Republican gubernatorial candidate Steve Poizner released an economic plan that would reduce spending on Medi-Cal, the state's Medicaid program, the Sacramento Bee reports.
Poizner, who currently serves as the state's insurance commissioner, said his proposal would:
- Cut taxes;
- Establish a $10 billion reserve fund; and
- Reduce the state budget by 10% over two years.
Poizner's so-called 10-10-10 plan would enact the largest cuts for:
- Medi-Cal;
- Prison health care; and
- Welfare services.
