Sen. Sheila Kuehl's (D-Los Angeles) bill (SB 1415) was amended to require patient consent for health care providers to create patient records. The bill also would require providers to notify patients if they are going to destroy the records earlier than the time span specified in the statement (Bill text, 4/22). This bill is before the Senate Judiciary Committee (Bill status, 4/22).
