SB 1301 by Sen. Elaine Alquist (D-San Jose) on May 1 was amended to specify that an adverse event under the bill means an event or series of events at health care facilities that causes the death or serious disability of a patient, personnel or visitor, as defined in the bill text. The bill would require the Department of Health Services to disclose information regarding licensing and annual renewal fees for nursing homes and other care facilities by Feb. 17, rather than March 1, of each year. The legislation also would revise inspection provisions and impose civil penalties for failure to report certain information. The bill was re-referred to the Senate Appropriations Committee (StateNet, Subscription required).
