Recession’s Effects on State, Personal Budgets Hit Hospitals Hard
More uninsured patients are seeking treatment in California hospitals' emergency departments at the same time that fewer patients are undergoing lucrative elective procedures, putting more pressure on hospitals' bottom lines, KPCC's "KPCC News" reports.
In addition, clinics and other health care providers have been hit by state budget cuts to Medi-Cal, California's Medicaid program.
