Reducing Health Costs Priority for CalPERS in 2006
Rob Feckner, who is expected to win a second term as CalPERS board president on Thursday, said he would continue efforts in 2006 to rein in rising health care costs, the Sacramento Bee reports.
According to the Bee, Feckner "understands the magnitude and global influence" of the $200 billion fund "and how its investment and health care decisions can have sweeping consequences economically, socially and politically."
In addition to reducing health care costs, Feckner in 2006 plans to hire a new investment chief, pursue new investment opportunities and expand recruitment of ethnically diverse money managers (Chan, Sacramento Bee, 2/14).
