REMOTE ICU: Hospital to Set Up Off-Site Monitoring
Virginia hospitals Sentara Hampton General Hospital and Sentara Norfolk General Hospital will become among the nation's first medical facilities to establish off-site electronic intensive care units (ICUs). Sentara Healthcare last week announced a five-year, multi-million dollar deal with Baltimore, Md.-based IC-USA to wire ICUs at the Hampton and Norfolk facilities to an electronic center, where physicians will be able to monitor patients from both hospitals 24-hours a day (Richmond Times-Dispatch, 4/24).
