Report: Most California Hospitals Will Not Meet State Seismic Deadlines
Most California hospitals will not be able to comply with state-mandated deadlines for seismic retrofitting because of the ongoing recession, according to a report released Thursday by the California Hospital Association, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
The report found that 64% of hospital CFOs said they would not be able to meet the state's 2013 or 2015 seismic deadlines because of high interest rates, a credit crunch and a growing number of uninsured patients.
Of the state's 430 hospitals, about one-third responded to the survey (San Francisco Chronicle, 7/31). This is part of the California Healthline Daily Edition, a summary of health policy coverage from major news organizations. Sign up for an email subscription.
