Research: COBRA Coverage Out-of-Reach for the Jobless
A new Families USA study found that health insurance premiums under COBRA take up between 30% and 84% of standard unemployment benefits. COBRA allows recently laid-off workers to retain their group health coverage for as long as 18 months provided that they pay 102% of the premiums.
