Riverside County Nurses File Lawsuit Over Overtime Compensation
On Monday, three nurses filed a class-action lawsuit against Riverside County and Riverside Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley, alleging that their positions have been misclassified as ineligible for overtime pay, the Riverside Press Enterprise reports.
Earlier this year, the county reclassified certain nursing and other staff positions as no longer eligible for overtime. The county said the change complies with federal law.
The nurses are seeking back pay, attorney's fees and an injunction prohibiting the hospital from withholding adequate pay.
On Wednesday, Riverside County spokesperson Ray Smith declined to comment because he said the county had just received a copy of the complaint (Hines, Riverside Press-Enterprise, 12/3).
