RIVERSIDE COUNTY: Opening Of Hospital Delayed
The opening of Riverside County's new $200 million hospital will be delayed for as much as a month because of "flu, state inspections and late delivery of equipment, the Riverside Press-Enterprise reports. The Riverside County Regional Medical Center was scheduled to open February 24. However, hospital officials now say that "the opening could be pushed back as late as March 24." According to Health Services Agency Director Kenneth Cohen, the county's plan to move in equipment and train hospital staff in late December and early January was derailed by a flu and cold epidemic that kept many of the staff at Riverside General Hospital caring for patients. He also said that "a state review of the new hospital took a week longer than expected" (Beeman, 2/13).
