Riverside County Seeks More Reimbursement for Indigent Care Programs
On Tuesday, the Riverside County Board of Supervisors unanimously agreed that state legislators should address physician reimbursement and other health care issues in the region, the Riverside Press-Enterprise reports.
Advocates told the board that Riverside and San Bernardino counties have trouble recruiting health care workers because state reimbursements do not sufficiently cover the costs of treating low-income and uninsured residents.
Riverside County ranked 57th out of California's 58 counties for the amount of state funding it received, at $45.24 per capita. San Bernardino County ranked 52nd, receiving $57.05 per capita. The state median was $75.75 per capita (Hines, Riverside Press-Enterprise, 9/29).
