SACRAMENTO COUNTY: Maxicare Keeps Medi-Cal Managed Care Contract
Maxicare Health Plans Inc. yesterday announced that it will continue serving as the Medi-Cal managed care contractor in Sacramento County for a two-year period starting January 1. The health plan said it has successfully concluded contract negotiations with the California Medical Assistance Commission. Maxicare currently serves 20,000 Medi-Cal members in the county and 128,000 Medi-Cal members statewide. Peter Ratican, president and CEO of the Los Angeles-based company, said, "Maxicare has continued to expand its government contracts as we believe that the same features of quality, access and cost which have made managed health care successful in the private sector will demonstrate similar successes in the public sector" (Maxicare release, 10/21).
