SACRAMENTO: Western Health Advantage Inks Out-of-Network Deal
Western Health Advantage HMO announced yesterday that it has contracted with 100 doctors in El Dorado County, the first time the plan has signed a deal "outside of the three local hospital networks" which own it, the Sacramento Bee reports. Nonprofit Western Health, which is owned by Mercy Healthcare, UC Davis Health System and NorthBay Healthcare System, "may look to strike more agreements with other doctor groups in nearby counties," according to WHA Marketing Director Catherine Kypta, to extend its 36,000 membership by up to 2,000 people (Young, 4/2).
