Sacramento’s Mexican Consulate Unveils Health Care Referral Program
Sacramento's Mexican Consulate has launched a new program designed to offer clinic referrals, health education and other support services to documented and undocumented immigrants, the Sacramento Bee reports.
The Mexican government will fund the "Ventanilla de Salud," or Health Window program, and the local not-for-profit group Health Education Council will provide services from inside the consulate.
Sacramento's program will be Mexico's 39th Health Window in the country.
Mexican President Felipe Calderón said he aims to establish a Health Window in every Mexican consulate in the U.S. (Tong, Sacramento Bee, 12/18).
