San Jose Hospital Resumes Medi-Cal Contract Negotiations
Regional Medical Center of San Jose has resumed negotiations with state officials for a contract to provide nonemergency services to some Medi-Cal beneficiaries, the San Jose Mercury News reports. Regional on Nov. 1 stopped treating Medi-Cal beneficiaries, except those whose benefits were administered by the Santa Clara Family Health Plan.
Regional spokesperson Leslie Kelsay said that Medi-Cal beneficiaries could seek nonemergency care at the hospital until Nov. 17, the next deadline for negotiating a Medi-Cal contract.
The Mercury News reports that a representative from the California Medical Assistance Commission, which administers Medi-Cal contracts with hospitals, declined to comment on the negotiations (Feder Ostrov, San Jose Mercury News, 11/9).
