San Ramon Regional Medical Center Workers Vote To Join Union
About 140 San Ramon Regional Medical Center employees last week voted to join the Service Employees International Union, and contract negotiations with the hospital are expected to begin soon, the Contra Costa Times reports. Certified nurse assistants, cooks, housekeeping staff members, pharmacy technicians, phlebotomists, sterile processing technicians, transporters, dietary workers and unit secretaries are among those who voted to join the union, according to SEIU Local 250. By joining the union, the workers hope to negotiate a contract that includes wage increases and guaranteed employer-sponsored health insurance, as well as address other hospital issues, according to the Times (Marshall, Contra Costa Times, 7/16).
