Schering-Plough To Pay $21.3M to California for Overcharging Medi-Cal
On Thursday, Attorney General Jerry Brown (D) announced that drugmaker Schering-Plough has agreed to pay California $21.3 million to settle claims that it overcharged Medi-Cal for its asthma drug Albuterol, the Sacramento Bee reports.
Medi-Cal is the state's Medicaid program.
California's payment is part of Schering's $69 million settlement with California, Florida, the federal government and a whistle-blower.
Schering has denied any wrongdoing in the case (Sacramento Bee, 12/18). This is part of the California Healthline Daily Edition, a summary of health policy coverage from major news organizations. Sign up for an email subscription.
