SCHIFF: Attacks Rogan With Managed Care Ad
In an effort to topple California Rep. Jim Rogan (R) in the 27th district, Democratic challenger state Sen. Adam Schiff began a television advertising campaign last week, featuring a local woman lauding Schiff for helping her get HMO payments, the National Journal Group reports. In the ad, produced by SG & A Campaigns, Irene McDermott contends that Schiff "helped force the HMO to provide the treatment that saved [her husband's] life" and Rogan "voted against the HMO patients' bill of rights." The ad, which costs $21,000 per week, began running June 2 and will continue for at least three weeks on cable stations throughout the district. Rogan, a two-term incumbent, has already run ads criticizing Schiff's stance on health care issues, highlighting the importance of the issue and the "tight re-election battle he faces" (6/12).
