Schwarzenegger Announces Appointments
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) on Aug. 29 announced appointments to several boards and agencies, including two appointees to the Health and Human Services Agency:
- Ruth Liu (D) of Fremont was appointed associate secretary of health care policy development for the Health and Human Services Agency. Previously, Liu served as senior policy consultant for Kaiser Permanente and was a graduate assistant intern for the University of California-San Francisco Center for the Health Professions. Compensation is $112,200 for position, which does not require Senate confirmation.
- Lizelda Lopez Engstrom (D) of Sacramento was appointed assistant associate secretary of multicultural outreach for HHS. Lopez Engstrom previously has worked as an account supervisor for Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide and as a legislative consultant. Compensation is $69,996 for the position, which does not require Senate confirmation (Office of the Governor release, 8/29).
