Schwarzenegger Announces Appointments
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) on Wednesday named Sandra Perez (D) of Sacramento director of the Office of the Patient Advocate. Perez since 2000 has been the director of the California Executive Fellowship Program for the Center of California Studies at California State University-Sacramento.
She also served as principal consultant at an administration, policy and media consulting firm with clients such as Kaiser Permanente and the Rural Health Institute.
Senate confirmation is required for the position, which has an annual salary of $101,500 (Governor's Office of External Affairs release, 7/20).
Board Appointments
The governor also appointed:
- William Baker (R) of Rancho Palos Verde to the California Dental Board and the Board of Dental Examiners Committee on Dental Auxiliaries. Baker has served as a member and president of the West Basin Municipal Water District Board of Directors since 2005, and he has worked since 1997 as an independent consultant focusing on law enforcement and public safety issues for a firm he founded. Senate confirmation is not required, and compensation is $100 per diem.
- Henry Hough (R) of Fair Oaks to the California Board of Pharmacy. Hough since 1995 has worked for the 60 Plus Association, a senior health care advocacy organization, most recently as senior vice president. Senate confirmation is not required, and compensation is $100 per diem.
- Robert Swart (R) of Roseville to the California Board of Pharmacy. Swart has been the director of pharmacy operations for the food store chain Safeway since 2005. Previously Swart served as regional manager of pharmacy operations, pharmacy area supervisor, pharmacy manager and pharmacist for Longs Drugs. Senate confirmation is not required, and compensation is $100 per diem (Office of the Governor release, 7/19).
