Sen. Boxer Urges CDC To Investigate Polio-Like Illness Affecting Children in California

Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) sent a letter to CDC Director Thomas Frieden requesting a formal investigation into the cause of a polio-like paralysis that has affected about 20 children in California over the past 18 months. In the letter, Boxer asked that CDC examine whether the illness can be traced to a virus or environmental factors, and she also raised questions about any other known reports of the paralysis in the U.S.
