Sharp HealthCare Launches Retention, Patient Care Initiative
Sharp HealthCare hospital administrators yesterday launched a yearlong initiative aimed at attracting and retaining employees and improving patients' hospital stays, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. The initiative, called "The Sharp Experience," is expected to cost the hospital $1.2 million, according to Michael Murphy, the company president. The initiative is being designed by workplace consultant Quint Studer and focuses on six areas: quality, service, people, finance, growth and community. Murphy said that the goal "is to make Sharp the best place for people to work, the best place for physicians to practice medicine and the best place to receive care." Sharp employs more than 11,000 workers, the Union-Tribune reports (San Diego Union-Tribune, 9/18).
