AB 106 by Assembly member Patty Berg (D-Eureka) will require hospitals to offer flu and pneumonia vaccines to seniors discharged between Oct. 1 and April 1 (Bill Text, 6/1).
Under AB 682 by Berg, doctors no longer will have to obtain written consent from patients before running an HIV test as part of a routine medical exam. Patients or their caretaker can deny the test verbally (Bill Text, 9/4).
AB 328 by Assembly member Mary Salas (D-Chula Vista) will require health care providers in Mexico who contract with California insurers to submit reports to California officials for some diseases diagnosed in California residents (Bill Text, 7/25).
Under AB 110 by Assembly member John Laird (D-Santa Cruz), state and local governments can use public funds to buy clean needles for exchange programs (Bill Text, 9/7).
